CLIMATS du COUCHANT - CHARDONNAY 2014 Russian River Valley

Another delicious vintage, and again one of the more subtle, elegant, Russian River Valley Sonoma Chardonnay, made in French oak, with a Burgundy style. A perfect pairing for fish, grilled or smoke salmon, or chicken or white poultry with cream and mushrooms.

Our Chardonnay is a  blend of two blocks from the famed Bacigalupi Vineyard in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma. The grapes were harvested late in the season, with full ripeness to deliver the fruity accents.  Fermented with native yeasts at low temperatures, the wine was then sur lie aged 10 months in French Oak barrels and stirred twice weekly during the first four months of barrel aging.

This complex, balanced wine shows a bright and vibrant golden color, and exhibits  some minerality first, then aromas of lemon zest, golden biscuit, and hints of salty caramel.
The finish, with  a light oak note, is long and – expresses the full balance of this wine, with its unadulterated natural acidity balancing the sweetness in a very elegant blend.

Our Chardonnay was bottled unfiltered with minimal intervention in order to best express the beautiful terroir of the Bacigalupi vineyard, or its “Climat” per the burgundy definition.
